Curiosity Conquers Judgement

by Katherine on July 31, 2012

I often come back to the phrase ‘curiosity conquers judgement’. Meaning that when we are curious about someone’s choices or actions we can decrease or even eliminate our tendency to judge. Because my friends, everyone experiences life uniquely.

It can be easy to judge others based on our personal values and beliefs. To project what we want onto someone else’s path. What we often forget is that everyone has different values and beliefs – a different purpose. Call me nosey ;) , but I’m am truly curious about other’s paths, decisions, how they came into a particular job, relationship, location, and why they chose the clothes they are wearing or their hairstyle.

When we take a moment to step back and see that everyone has a different path, we are able to diminish judgement. Of ourselves and others.

I want to leave this open rather than linking it to any specific examples of judgement.
