So I made this amazing Chocolate Superfood Bark that I just HAVE to share with you all. You can make it chocolate OR not chocolate, you can make it with your favourite seeds, you can douse it in coconut or leave it without, you can use any seed butter or nut butter and play with it to your hearts content. I love cacao. It’s a spectacular superfood packed with antioxidants. In fact raw cacao is 20x richer in antioxidants than blueberries. It’s so easy to make your own chocolate treats, so forget picking up the chocolate bar at the checkout, you know the waxy milk chocoalte that should not even pass as chocolate and NEVER satisfies your chocolate craving. This is SO much better:
Chocolate Superfood Bark
- 2 Tbsp sunflower seed butter (peanut butter is SO yesterday)
- 1/2 Tbsp unpasteurized honey
- 1/2 Tbsp coconut oil
- 1 Tbsp raw cacao powder
- 1/2 cup seeds of choice, I used pumpkin seeds & hemp seeds
- 1 Tbsp coconut flakes
Add seed butter, oil & honey into a small metal bowl. Heat up a kettle of water. Poor the water into a slightly bigger bowl and place the small bowl in the big bowl of water – double boiler action. Stir until it’s all melted together then add the cacao powder, stir until mixed in, then add the seeds & coconut flakes & mix. Use parchment paper or a silpat on top of a baking sheet & spread the mixture out as thick or thin as you’d like your bark. Place it in the freezer for 20 minutes then enjoy! Store in freezer in a container for a quick superfood snack.
